"The Kite Runner": Sin and Sacraments

Sin and Sacraments The international best-selling novel, The Kite Runner was published in 2003 by Riverhead Books, written by the Afghan-born American novelist and physician, Khaled Hosseini. The novel is about the power of reading, the price of betrayal, and the possibility of redemption; and an exploration of the power of fathers over sons—their love, their sacrifices, their lies. There are several themes in the novel but the most dominant themes are betrayal and redemption.  In this essay, I will argue that betrayal and redemption are the most dominant themes in the novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Some may object to this statement and say that forgiveness is the most dominant theme, but I will contend that the themes of betrayal and redemption are on display throughout the novel.             The theme of betrayal and redemption is exercised by the main character of the novel Amir, who is the central focu...

The novel I have chosen is The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I selected this novel because it caught my attention the most out of all three books when I read the reviews about them. The deep meaning behind the various messages, would make it worth while to read.

My Personal Memoir

This event is significant because my family and l left the country we were born in and relocated to a location 22 hours away with no family or friends at the time. When  we arrived in Canada, kind hospitality was shown at the airport and even the taxi driver that drove us to our condo in Mississauga and welcomed us to the new country that myself and my family would soon consider as our new home.  The following week I started school and found new people I could regard as friends as I started the next chapter of my life in my new country and home, Canada.

Going out for a walk

Image
The informal essay by author Max Beerbohm, who talks to the readers about his views on walking with and without a purpose.   “Walking for walking's sake may be as highly laudable and exemplary a thing as it is held to be by those who practice it”, he believes that those who walk for fun and without purpose are participating  in a foolish act. The author believes that there must be a purpose for one to get out of their house and go for a walk. Beerbohm also talks about the excuses he tries to use when someone asks him, but he believe that it could lead up to some unnecessary question that would be difficult to answer.
